6/9/2023 0 Comments Manga like pandora heartsNeedless to say, things escalate from here. Oz sets out on a journey to find the reason he was dropped into the Abyss, retrieve Alice’s lost memories, and help the organization, Pandora, which he joined after returning to the normal world. When he comes back, 10 years have passed and things are different. Beings called chains live in the Abyss, and Oz makes a contract with Alice, a chain who has lost her memories in order to escape the Abyss. Things go horribly wrong, and he is dropped into the Abyss, another mysterious dimension. The story begins with 15-year-old Oz Vessalius who is about to have his coming of age ceremony. The Alice in Wonderland allusions, the characters, and the mystery are enough to carry the introductory chapters. That’s not to say that nothing in the beginning is uninteresting, far from it. It’s best to just enter with as little knowledge as possible (which is why this review will be mostly spoiler free, with only light spoilers for the first few chapters in order to talk about the story, and a spoiler section at the end) since it takes a while to develop a clear goal. Pandora Hearts is a difficult story to describe. Despite that, Pandora Hearts is a series worth anyone’s time. It’s art and character designs look too “pretty boy” for some, the story is convoluted, and it was released monthly, so many have already dropped it. Pandora Hearts by Jun Mochizuki is one of those series that is hard to get into.
